It is reasonable to say that shorter people should scull with shorter sculls and narrower spans than taller people. Although this would mean that they sculled a shorter stroke, they could scull at a higher rate whilst maintaining the same work to recovery ratio. There is a relationship between height of the sculler and the rig. The following chart gives a suggested range of rig related to the height of the sculler. These ranges should be achievable using the adjustment parameters of adjustable sculls and riggers. However, there are other factors that need to be taken into consideration such as athlete strength and flexibility.
