Alden Quest

In the Alden Quest 16, Alden have combined the highly successful Alden 16 hull shape and the neat deck, cockpit and rigger of the Alden Star to produce a superbly stable and performing recreational boat that will appeal to individuals and clubs alike. At only 45lbs rigged, it is easily managed both on land and water. For the individual who may want to tour, the built-in large storage hatch has a flat-top for more storage in the shape of an optional deck bag. The boat is easily car toppable and the one-piece rigger, is easily slipped in the back when travelling, or left on the boat (width of car permitting). For the club, this boat is very much like the racing boat your novices will progress to, but in it they should feel relatively safe with its great stability. A smile will appear on their face with its' surprising speed. Even for an experienced sweep rower who doesn't scull much or a sculler lacking in confidence, this boat provides a stable platform for them to concentrate on their technique without the fear of getting wet, and give them a decent workout as well covering some distance quite quickly (we've rowed 26 miles in a day before now...OK we could have gone further, but the riverside pubs were too tempting to pass by)! It will be a boat in demand by all members, for fun tours, technique outings etc. and not just for gathering dust and taking up valuable space waiting for a new novice to come along every once in a while. As with all UK Aldens, the Quest is fitted with Concept2 oarlocks as standard so you don't need to buy special sculls, and the rigger allows for the usual adjustments for height, spread and pitch. Plus, any weight from a child to a 100kg adult can scull in this boat. Time to ditch that old, heavy out of date boat you save for a few outings a year and get some real value for money and improve your sculling technique!
