Notice
It has been well documented that this years' event faced several problems in logistics, facilities and timing issues. Whilst Oarsport are the main sponsor of the event, we would like to make it clear to competitors, coaches, parents and supporters that we do not have any involvement in running the event or the timing. We are very disappointed that the most important aspect of the event, the results, were, in some divisions, delayed for so long. The Scullery, organisers of the Oarsport Junior Sculling Head have issued an explanation and apology on their website to be found here: www.thescullery.org.uk
On the positive side, the event ran to time and fairly smoothly, albeit challenged by dreadfully wet and muddy conditions, but we are hardy rowers and weather on the day cannot be helped. We have been treated to some great conditions in years past though. There are some big improvements to be made to the event which we are assured by the organisers are being addressed. As ever, we were thoroughly impressed with the attitude, ability and determination from nearly 2,500 young scullers. They are our sports future and with young people like this, it stands GB Rowing in good stead.
So, it remains for us to distribute medals, and also Gold Medallist's t-shirts to wear with pride. A Victor Ludorum prize (to keep) for the most successful boys and girls club/school in the form of a scale model WinTech Racing 4x will be presented too. We will be contacting coaches for t-shirt sizes over the next few days so if you are a Gold Medallist, be sure to let them have your size. Well done to all, and we hope to see you at summer regattas which are fast approaching. Be assured Oarsport are here to help with your preparations and victories. Good luck!
2013 Oarsport Junior Sculling Head
In support of junior rowing in the U.K. Oarsport are pleased to announce that the 2013 Oarsport Junior Sculling Head will be our fifth year of major sponsorship for this very successful and rapidly growing event which shows the strength and breadth of junior rowing developing across the country. The event to be held on Friday 8th March at Dorney Lake, gives aspiring young scullers the chance to perform on the 2012 Olympic regatta course in a safe environment with excellent facilities for athletes and their supporters alike.
These junior scullers are our future World and Olympic Champions, as well as club captains and coaches and it is important to encourage them to prosper in the sport, especially with the momentum that has gathered from the Olympic interest. From experience, we know that our sport will lead to fitter, healthier, more disciplined and well rounded individuals learning important life skills along the way and we support this wholeheartedly.

Zac Purchase M.B.E. and Mark Hunter M.B.E. our 2008 Olympic Gold medallists in LWT 2x took time off their busy and demanding training schedule to drop by the Oarsport stand to offer inspiration to competitors and present medals and signed winners t-shirts last year. We hope to have news of other rowing heroes attending this year very soon. For further inspiration and sculling tips, the Oarsport DVD "Golden Glory" featuring Zac and Mark is a welcome addition to any rowers collection. The DVD is now only £9 and available here.
